According to Ukrainian officials, 16 people were killed in the attack, including one child, while at least 28 were injured. In a statement condemning the attack, Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky called Russian forces “terrorists” and also had strong words for those he accused of “turning a blind eye” to atrocities by not severing ties with Russia. “When someone in the world still attempts to deal with anything Russian, it means turning a blind eye to this reality,” he said. “The audacity of evil. The brazenness of wickedness. Utter inhumanity. “At this moment, the attack by Russian terrorists has killed 16 people in the city of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. A regular market. Shops. A pharmacy. People who did nothing wrong. Many wounded. Unfortunately, the number of casualties and the injured may rise.” The President concluded: “My condolences to all who have lost loved ones! This Russian evil must be defeated as soon as possible.”
