Headline: Three Rescued From Russian Vessel After Shark Attack Off Australian Coast

Caption: **RAW VIDEO** Rescuers from the Australian Maritime Safety Authority (AMSA) saved three people on board a Russian catamaran that had been attacked by sharks in the Coral Sea on Wednesday (06September2023). The shark-stricken vessel was found adrift 835km Southeast of Cairns, where it had planned to arrive after travelling from the Pacific island of Vanuatu In a statement, AMSA officials said: “AMSA responded to a Russian-registered emergency position-indicating radio beacon (EPIRB) at 1:30am (AEST). The EPIRB was registered to a 9-metre inflatable catamaran Tion with three people on board. The vessel departed from Vanuatu and was bound for Cairns when contact was established. Both hulls of the vessel have been damaged following several shark attacks.” They added that the incident should serve as a warning to those sailing in the area to always carry a distress beacon while on the water.
