Headline: Volodymyr Zelensky Visits Babyn Yar Memorial On 81st Anniversary Of Massacre

Caption: **RAW VIDEO** Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky visited the Babyn Yar memorial in Kyiv on Thursday (29September2022), the 81st anniversary of the massacre of more than 30,000 Jews by the Nazis. The memorial marks the site of the ravine where the bodies of around 30,000 Jews were left following an initial two day massacre. More than 150,000 Soviet prisoners of war, communists, Ukrainian nationalists, and Roma were killed at the site by the end of the Second World War. “The 81st anniversary of the Babyn Yar tragedy,” Zelensky, who is Jewish, said on his Telegram channel. “Unfortunately, similar crimes against humanity still occur today. In particular, on our Ukrainian land. Criminals who cause such tragedies must be punished. So that dictators and tyrants are reluctant to repeat something similar in the future.” During the early days of Russia’s invasion a missile strike hit Kyiv’s TV tower, which is located very close to the site, sparking international condemnation.
