Headline: Sheep-killing Persian leopard caught in northern Iraq

Caption: Veterinarian Suleiman Tamr, an official of the Kurdistan Organization for the Protection of Animal Rights, and helpers, transfer an unconscious male Persian leopard outside its a cage at the Duhok Zoo before amputating one of its hind limbs. The leopard, estimated to be five years old, was caught on Thursday by a trap set by locals at one of the villages after 25 of their sheep were killed. One of the leopard's hind limbs was damaged by the trap, which prompted the Environmental Protection Police to transfer the animal to the zoo to get the injured leg amputated after irreversible damage. There is a chance of the leopard returning back to the wild after it recovers.
