Headline: World's First Sculpture Of Tyson Fury Captures Boxer's Skills Wiith Drain Pipes

Caption: The world's first public sculpture of boxing's Heavyweight Champion of the World, Tyson Fury, is to be unveiled in his adopted hometown of Morecambe, Lancashire. The artwork, by award-winning sculptor Anthony Padgett, will make its debut at Morecambe Bay Art Fair this weekend (4-5Dec2021) and will then be sited outdoors at Jo & Lee's By The Sea Cafe on Morecambe sea front - right next to the site of the VVV gym Fury once used as a training base. Anthony says: "The sculpture was inspired by Tyson Fury. It depicts the essence of the punch, the key moment in boxing. It is great to have a sculpture depicting Tyson's world achievement in Morecambe. Also to have a contemporary artwork, shows Morecambe is progressive in its views of art. I used to see Tyson Fury in the cafe but never spoke to him. I hope he likes the work." Anthony, who is from Morecambe, also creates traditional lifelike sculptures but chose to use storm drain piping, a technique he pioneered last year, to create a work that captures The Gypsy King’s boxing form in an abstract way. The artist has previously captured Wilfred Owen and artist Vincent Van Gogh with his more traditional sculptures and is also in the ring as a contender to create a more true-to-life likeness of Britain’s top fighter. You can see the sculpture, prior to its installation at Jo & Lees, at the Morecambe Bay Art Fair 2021.
