Headline: Renowned Activists Occupy To Protect London Trees From Gentrification

Caption: Residents Gather near the fences surrounding part of Wornington Green Estate to support a group of ecoactivists. Today well-known environmentalists occupied two of the last trees left by the development project by Catalyst Housing. Despite a long campaign and petition by Wornington Trees - a grassroots community campaigning to oppose the tree felling on Wornington Green and RBKC Council - developers chopped a large part of the mature trees of the estate. Locals declare they repeatedly complained about the lack of meaningful consultation with residents. Regeneration should be environmentally friendly and carried out in equal collaboration with residents, local community, the Council and the developers. Catalyst Housing representatives on-site in the early afternoon did not want to further comment but declared that Catalyst bought the land, and the activists and the trees are now on private land. When asked if Catalyst Housing was a private company purchasing public land, they repeated they were working for the local Council.
