Headline: Rarest American Colonial Coin Discovered Amongst Tin Of Coins Predicted To Sell For 200k At Upcoming Auction

Caption: A vintage confectionery tin of assorted coins was found to contain one of the rarest American Colonial coins ever struck. Morton & Eden, specialist coin and medal auctioneers in London, are offering the silver shilling of distinctly rustic design made in 1652 in their Autumn sale. An ancestor of the present owner was an early settler in New England and this rarest New England (NE), silver shilling, found mixed in the sweet tin amongst a collection of other coins, is one of the very first coins to have been struck in what is now the US and is the finest example. Morton & Eden recently sent the coin to the US for certification and grading and the original estimate of £60,000-80,000 on this very rare coin has now been substantially upgraded to £150,000-200,000 (US$200,000-300,000). The coin, along with others, will be auctioned online by Morton & Eden in London on Friday 26 November 2021.
