Headline: Moose On The Loose Is Safely Captured and Released, Colorado

Caption: It took the combined efforts of Colorado wildlife officials and the U.S. Army to capture a moose recently. The animal was spotted wandering on a golf course and needed to be relocated for its safety and that of the golfers. The moose was tracked for four days as it made its way from the Country Club of Colorado, near Cheyenne, to the U.S. Army’s Fort Carson. On Thursday (22 July), Colorado Parks and Wildlife (CPW) were able to tranquilise the animal, but it ran into a creek where it was in danger of drowning. CPW explain: “That's when the fun began. When darted, the moose bolted and dropped in a creek. CPW and Army officers swarmed it to keep it from drowning. Then they rolled it onto tarps and muscled it out of the creek to a front-end loader arranged by Fort Carson Range Control to haul it. “The Army loader hauled the moose up a steep embankment to a waiting CPW trailer where it was assessed, revived from the tranquilizer and given a shower to cool off and lower its stress levels. Then it was taken to the mountains and released in more appropriate habitat.”
