Headline: Friends Peephole Prop Sells At Auction for $35,000

Caption: The iconic framed peephole from Friends sold for $35,000 ($25,400) at auction. Originally in the collection of the hit show's set director Greg J. Grande, Texas-based Heritage Auctions sold the 11" by 13.5" prop with a certificate of authenticity on 16 July. The world-famous frame, seen on the back of the door of the show's centrepiece apartment, has become an icon of the show, and used on Season 1 DVD packaging. Made from papier-mâché, it was intended as a picture frame before broken glass meant it was repurposed - and became a global icon. The peephole was said to be in very good condition, exhibiting production wear and a little brittleness at the mounting holes.
