Headline: Cargo Ship Wreck Is Cut Up For Removal, Georgia, USA

Caption: Salvage operations continued this week on the Golden Ray wreck in Brunswick, Georgia, USA. Cars can be seen still in the cargo hold, as the VB-10000 apparatus lifts Section Three of the Golden Ray wreck in preparation for weight-shedding operations on Thursday (1 July). Weight-shedding is a multi-strategy approach which includes tactics such as vehicle and deck removal and using water streams to mitigate increased weight in the sections due to large accumulations of sediment. On 8 September, 2020, the 200-metre-long car carrier MV Golden Ray capsized within Georgia’s Port of Brunswick harbour in America. The South Korean vessel has been lying on her side in shallow water in St. Simons Sound ever since. The vessel was carrying thousands of cars.
