Caption: A tanker overturned into a lake believed to be part of RSPB Saltholme in Stockton-on-Tees, Middlesbrough, this morning (27 April), sparking environmental concerns at the location. Photographer Colin Jones reports: At approximately 7-30am this morning 27/4/2021 a tanker left the road A178 Seaton Carew Road and drove into one of the lakes at RSPB Saltholme close to Hartlepool. Ended up resting on its side in the water. Police, fire brigade and ambulance all in attendance. Local police officer stated he “"suspects the tanker left the road either due to a blown tyre or possibly to avoid a flock of birds." Driver left vehicle appearing unharmed. At this time not known what the tanker was carrying. Let's hope this does not have a detrimental effect on the wildfowl.
