Caption: How’s this for a jumbo traffic jam? Photographer Fernando Duarte Nogueira captured the scene as an elephant blocked a road in Tanzania. The 40-year-old Dutchman explains: “This was in Lake Manyara National Park in Tanzania. My girlfriend and I were driving through the park when we saw a traffic jam. At least four (maybe six) jeeps had stopped to let a group of elephants cross the road. The elephants came out of the bushes from one side of the road and disappeared on the other side. We almost couldn't see the elephants because the forest was so dense. They just suddenly came out of the bushes, of course you could hear them. “We were the last jeep in the line and we stopped a bit further away so I could make some photos. Most elephants just walked past the jeeps but one elephant had a closer look and stood in front of one of the jeeps for a short while. “After observing this for a few minutes we looked behind us and we saw this huge elephant walking on the road right towards us. We couldn't go anywhere because of the jeeps in front of us so we just waited and didn't move. The elephant walked right past us and kept walking along the road towards the other jeeps. He just walked past those other jeeps as well, all confident and relaxed.”
