Headline: Deer In Welsh Country Park, UK

Caption: Relaxing on the grounds of Margam Country Park, are the rare Père David's deer (Elaphurus davidianus). Believed to originally have lived in China, the Père David's deer, also known as Milu or Ssupu-hsiang, are truly remarkable creatures with their giant antlers, head shaped like a horse, a donkey’s tail, and hooves like an ox but with webbing between the toes for adapted swimming. These beautiful Chinese deer became close to extinction in the early 20th century due to over hunting and loss of their natural wetland habitat, only to be saved on a British duke’s estate, however, in recent times the Père David’s deer has since been re-introduced in China. Furthermore, this rare deer is being bred in only a few private parks a and zoological gardens, Margam Country Park being one where they have adapted well and thrive.
