Headline: Animals At London Zoo Enjoy Halloween Treats

Caption: Lemurs, pygmy hippos and tigers all got into the Halloween spirit today (17Oct19), as ZSL London Zoo counts down to a week of fiendish family fun during October half-term. While kids all over the country prepare for the spookiest night of the year, Sumatran tiger Asim sunk his paws into a giant ghoulish gourd, rolling around a 42 kg pumpkin before enjoying a meaty feast hidden inside. Joining in the festive fun were the Zoo’s spirited group of ring-tailed lemurs, named after the ghosts of Roman mythology, who had their own carved creation for breakfast - while pygmy hippo Nicky chomped her way through a multi-coloured pumpkin patch, forming a very spooky assault course. ZSL London Zoo’s Animal Operations Manager Angela Ryan said: “Since visitors will get to explore our exciting new Pumpkin Patch this half-term, keepers felt it was only fair the animals also get in on the action. “Our pygmy hippo Nicky had fun stomping on and chomping her way through her own spooky squashes, while keepers carved out some grisly fun for playful big cat Asim to sink his paws into – which families can find out more about at Grim Keepers, our new tour exploring the more gruesome side of nature.”
