Headline: Company Launch Drone Flamethrower

Caption: A company have launched an amazing drone flamethrower system. The TF-19 WASP is a drone flamethrower attachment designed for remote ignition of aerial and ground targets and is said to bring “new levels of efficiency and manageability to agriculture”. Amazingly, Ohio-based Throwflame, who launched the drone attachment this week (on 16 July), say: “Flamethrower drones are federally legal and not considered weapons; however, users are still required to comply with the FAA’s UAS rules in addition to local ordinances.” The TF-19 Wasp is capable of igniting targets up to 25ft away. It has a one gallon fuel capacity, allowing for 100 seconds of trigger time between refills. Throwflame say the device has application in clearing debris from power lines, pest management and nest elimination, forest fire containment back-burns/pre-burns, and remote agriculture burns. They explain: “Forest fire management and prevention is both costly and dangerous. Wildland fire-fighting crews can avoid difficult terrain and adverse conditions while utilising the TF-19 WASP drone flamethrower system to ignite remote controlled burns.” The TF-19 WASP flamethrower attachment is $1,499 and is designed for drone platforms with a payload capacity of 5lbs (2.2kg) or more.
