Headline: James Martin launches new in flight menu with Thomas Cook Airlines

Caption: Thomas Cook Airlines customers can enjoy a brand new on board menu this Summer, thanks to celebrity chef, James Martin. James Martin surprised customers on board a Thomas Cook Airlines flight to Turkey to launch the menu and to test his dishes on customers. The new menu includes a selection of delicious dishes. For those flying long-haul in the Premium cabin, there are dishes such as Somerset cider chicken with dauphinoise potato and roasted root vegetables and slow braised beef in Guinness, chive and garlic mash potato for main course. Vegetarians can look forward to roasted cauliflower with a lightly spiced cauliflower puree, mushrooms and spinach gnocchi. For dessert, banoffee caramel latte mousse awaits. In Economy, slow braised beef ragu with rigatoni pasta and cumin spiced butternut & chickpea masala with steamed basmati rice are on offer, with millionaires caramel shortbread and Belgian chocolate mousse for dessert. James Martin says, “Enjoying a hot meal on board is not as widely available as it once was, so we want to ensure that everyone gets the chance to kick off their holiday from the moment they step on the plane with a delicious meal. To unveil the new menu, I wanted to get on board myself, meet the customers and let them try out my new dishes. “It is a long process to develop an in-flight menu. In fact, getting customers to try the dishes on board is the very last stage in a 12 month process. It all starts off with one pan, in my kitchen at home. That's where we do the testing and development and then we work from there to the factory and then to the finished article at 36,000 feet in the air! “I love to see customers trying the food and seeing the final product. We do millions of meals in a year with Thomas Cook Airlines but I must say, it has been nerve-wracking to be on board with customers while they taste the new dishes - they can't get off the aircraft...and neither can I!” The Thomas Cook Holiday Report 2019 features an interview with James, where he talks about how to get food tasting as good in the air as on the ground. Meals are complimentary on Thomas Cook Airlines long haul flights and on short and medium haul can be ordered at the time of booking, or through manage my booking online at least 24 hours before departure.
