STORY COPY: A Cornwall fishmonger has become the first female to become a certified Master Fishmonger. Elaine Lorys, from Newlyn, Cornwall, is only the 13th person to receive the coveted accolade, which is the highest accreditation in the industry. She works at W. Stevenson & Sons Ltd. in Newlyn. The MFS (Master Fishmonger Standard) Master Fishmonger accolade is reserved for those with at least ten years’ experience as a fishmonger. Elaine says: “I’ve worked at Stevenson and Sons Newlyn for 23 years and loved every minute if it! As the first female MFS certified Master Fishmonger and the first from Cornwall, I am proud to now be recognised as an innovative, knowledgeable and highly-skilled fishmonger, with a wealth of experience in the industry.” MFS Master Fishmongers say " Master Fishmongers demonstrate excellence in, and dedication to, their field of work within the seafood industry.
