Des Moines Police reported that the lawmen safely caught the youngsters, all under three years old, as they leapt from a third storey window on Tuesday (19 Mar). The children, and their mother, escaped unharmed. An officer is heard shouting to the mother, O'Sheana Harrison, "Ma'am, get all the kids by the window." The children are then thrown one by one into the officer's arms. A Des Moines PD spokesperson explained: "Early this morning, DMPD officers responded to assist DMFD with a structure fire at an apartment complex in the 3700 block of MLK Parkway. Officers arrived to find that heavy smoke was preventing their access to the 3rd floor. "Senior Police Officers Cole Johnson, Craig Vasquez, Tyler Kelley, and Casey Sanders quickly positioned themselves outside the building, and caught children that were dropped to them from a 3rd floor window. All are well. "Please join us in thanking these officers, and those who serve with them, for leaving their homes every day to help make Des Moines the safe and secure city that it is!"
