Headline: Photographer Captures Flying Squirrel

Caption: Is it a bird? Is it a plane? This squirrel appeared to be doing an impression of Superman. The high-flying critter was captured by Kenneth Macleod in a forest near to Inverness on Tuesday (12 Mar). He explains: "I had noticed the squirrels there a few times while out walking and observed they seemed to take the same route each time I had seen them. I returned with my camera equipment and set up up where I hoped they would jump from one location to another. I was wary of the strong wind at the time and had wondered if they would turn up at all, but after sitting patiently for about 45 minutes the squirrel duly appeared and leapt from one area to the other with great ease. I do a fair bit of wildlife photography so had a rough idea of camera settings etc, but a friend gave me a couple of other tips which paid great dividends."
