Headline: Photographer Documents Marmots in Action

Caption: A photographer has captured amazing shots of marmots in action. Robert Haasmann wanted to get up, close and personal with the critters for an ongoing personal picture project. The result is a supercute - and hilarious - gallery of studies of the picturesque large squirrels. In one image a baby marmot peeks between the bodies of the adults, while elsewhere two marmots face-off, with one baring its claws aggressively at the other. Robert, 36, a wildlife, landscape and travel photographer from Salzburg, explains: "All images are taken at Hohe Tauern National Park, close to Austria's highest mountain - Grossglockner. "Some of the marmots are used to people and if you bring along a carrot (or two) they become really curious. I've spent some time lying on the ground and watching the marmots while tourists around me were feeding them. From time to time they come so close that they have even touched my camera. "With a wideangle lens I tried to capture those moments in a really unique way. Some of the images are taken with a long telephoto lens, so I can capture moment when they interact with each other without being influenced by humans. "In some of the images they are play-fighting. Especially younger ones love to play, with the older ones it can get a bit more serious."
