Headline: Photographer Shoots Stunning Aerials of the Netherlands

Caption: PICTURE SHOWS: Naarden Fort ... STORY COPY: A photographer has captured stunning aerial images of the Netherlands - by shooting from a helicopter with its door removed. Jeffrey Milstein has gained international praise for his artistic, God's eye views of urban areas. His latest series focuses on the green-tinged Dutch landscape of Amsterdam and Rotterdam. New York-based Jeffrey was asked to shoot the area in August by Netherlands gallery ARTITLEDcontempory. Jeffrey explains: "My gallery in the Netherlands, ARTITLEDcontemporary, has been selling my New York aerials over there there and has had requests from his collectors for Amsterdam/Rotterdam aerials, so I went over there at his request in August and photographed Amsterdam and Rotterdam. They will be showing large prints of the work at the Pan Amsterdam Art Fair, Nov 18-25. "I usually fly in a small gas powered helicopter with the door removed (except in Paris and London, where you are required to have a twin engine turbine to fly over the cities). As you probably noticed I like symmetry and graphic balance in my photos so I am always trying to get the pilot into a certain spot. He has to make steep turns so I can get the straight down shots I want. It often takes many turns to get the shot. I attach the camera to a gyro to help stabilise it. It is all handheld, and heavy! "My goal is to get the best resolution so I can blow up the prints to 80" wide and larger for my galleries. To do this I use very high resolution medium format cameras. I have been shooting with the Phase One 100 MPXL digital back. I use it with the Phase One camera and a Swiss made Alpa that lets me mount very sharp 4x5 lenses to the digital back. They have just released a 150 MPXl back, and I am waiting for delivery to trade up. This should give amazing resolution."
