Caption: In a time where the eco-conscious are dumping plastic straws, three designers have created a funky personal straw for carrying around. Called Chew, the innovation is dubbed "the world's first pocketable chewable reusable dry spin straw". Not just for slurping up your favourite drink, the straw has "four different textured chewable tips to add a new layer to your usual drinking experience". And people do not think the idea sucks, as a Kickstarter campaign has already seen £13,899 pledged of a £11,182 goal (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1062686763/chew-a-new-spin-on-reusable-straws) Designed to be portable, the aluminium design means it can be disassembled into two parts to allow you to slip it into any pocket, while Chew's recycled plastic case aids you in easy assembly with a simple click. The £13 straw can be dried of moisture by spinning it in its case. The idea was developed by a team of 3 Singapore based industrial designers, Lim Jing Jie, 22, Tommy Cheong and Kevin Yeo, both 24. They say: "The three of us have always considered buying reusable straws, but never quite found one that met our needs. Along with many major companies choosing to ban reusable straws, we decided it was time to do something about it. Thus, CHEW was born. We believe that being eco-friendly is easy, if you are given the right tools. By injecting a little fun and insanity into everyday problems, we can find the solution to save the world in our own little ways."
