Caption: Wildlife photographer Daniel Hauck captured this red squirrel leaping in Scotland's Cairngorms National Park. The 22 year old from Northamptonshire explains: "Red Squirrels are one of my favourite animals because they have so much character and very interesting features. On a recent trip to Scotland I made sure that I visited a hide in the Cairngorms National Park that was well known to be surrounded by a large community of Red Squirrels set against the backdrop of the beautiful Caledonian pine forests. I knew that the Squirrels could be very acrobatic as they jumped from tree to tree or log to log so I set up my camera and focused it on a gap that the Squirrels frequently jumped across hoping to get a sequence of jumping shots. The Squirrels were incredibly quick so there were many failed attempts but I eventually got a series of shots that I was happy with."
