Caption: This orphan bear seems to have taken up surfing - and stuck out her tongue in case anyone was laughing at her efforts. The playful female was testing out the enrichment plaything this week (12 Sep) at the Fortress of the Bear rescue centre in Sitka, Alaska. She gingerly stepped onto the wooden pallet, kept afloat by metal kegs, before thinking better of it and stepping off. The not-for-profit organisation say their mission is "to rescue cubs, bring them back to health and provide a long life full of enrichment. Our goal is to work with the Alaska Department of Fish & Game to someday release rehabbed bears back into the wild."
