Headline: New York 'Human Tool' Chews Himself A Stool Out Of Wood

Caption: A New Yorker has made a wooden stool from scratch - using only his teeth. Nik Bentel yanked down some lumber and gnawed it into shape with his teeth to see if he could build himself a seat without any tools. A typical stool creating process goes through 3 different countries, 2 continents and hundreds of different tools, machines and processes to finally get to your living room. "That seems like a lot of work just to sit down." explains Nik. "What if anyone could make a stool completely from scratch and eliminate all that unnecessary shipping, all of the large factories and excess materials?" Over the past 5 months, Nik designed and created the first stool made completely from scratch without using any tools. Nik visited some woods to knock down trees for lumber, he then used his teeth and fingernails to scratch the wood down. After hours of working, the first stool made completely from scratch was finished. Nik's stool project is the first part of a six part series the New Yorker is launching about design and how we as humans can become human again, using no tools to help us survive.
