Headline: Floating Pyramid City Now Accepting Citizens

Caption: A floating pyramid city has now begun accepting citizens. The proposed Wayaland will see bouyant so-called Waya modules offer an "offshore living experience, a self sustainable community built around the human on the water." The brainchild of Rome-based Lazzarini Design Studio, the idea is now being crowdfunded with a view to opening in 2022. Each investor will become a citizen of Waya, receive the Waya passport and will vote to decide where the first Waya modules will be based in the world. Accordingly to designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini the first Waya-suite will cost €350,000 to build. He says this sum can be crowdfunded by pre-ordering availiable night stays for the year 2022 at €1000 per night. The modules have been Inspired by Mayan architecture, and partly by Japanese temples. Lazzarini Design say: "The modular Waya pyramid can offer "different living and entertainment settings", such as hotel, shops, spa, gym, bars, greenhouse for produce or cinem. In order to complete the main Waya pyramid, different modules are stacked on the floating base, which measures 54m x 54m in its largest form, extending the surface to around 3000 sqm. The base holds a large entrance for boats and the reception to access the rooms."By subdividing its height over ten different floors, with a total surface of 6500 sq m, the complete Waya reaches a maximum height of 30 m from the waterline," say Lazzarini Design. FURTHER INFO Each Waya module can be coupled with a specific floating basement, creating itself another customised floating building. The energy, provided autonomously from solar panels and water turbines, contribute to power with clean energy all the services and systems of the pyramids, including desalinators which are located in the storage under the main level. In the sub merged part of each floating structure, a large amount of storage space is used for the engines, equipments, generators or additional energy resources. The floating modules, anchored to keep the position, will be also easily adjustable, while maneuvering with the lower mounted engines. The chassis, composed in part from fiberglass, carbon and steel, will be assembled piece by piece while climbing the structure, after placed the basement, directly in the water. Covered from surfaced solar panels, all the external surfaces of the Waya will be able to store energy from the sun.
