Headline: James Bond Model Aston Martin Auction

Caption: PICTURE SHOWS: 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk 2 Vantage (NB: Not the James Bond model) ... Two stunning Aston Martins are to go under the hammer, including a 1964 DB5 - the same model driven by James Bond. Estimated at £940,500, the DB5 was delivered to its first owner, F.B.Beard of Shrewsbury, Shropshire on 22nd May 1964. However, the car eventually made its way to Australia, where it will appear in a sale with a 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk 2 Vantage, which is estimated at £500,00. The DB6 was a highly fashionable car to be seen in, famous owners including HRH Prince Charles, Paul McCartney, Mick Jagger, Twiggy and Peter Sellers. Mossgreen Australia will auction these two stunning Aston Martins on Sunday May 28th at Carriageworks, Sydney. The 1964 factory right hand drive Aston Martin DB5 was delivered to its first owner with the registration number FBB1. Now finished in James Bond’s paint colour of choice, Silver Birch, it’s original body colour was Caribbean Pearl. Its original interior trim was Connolly Vaumol hide, in dark blue as it is now. By the late 1980s this DB5 had been brought to Australia. The DB5 was built between 1963 and 1965 and in total just 1,059 units were produced. The 1970 Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Vantage was delivered new to Ireland, from whence it went to New Zealand before arriving in Australia when in 1977 it was registered as PUW-466 to W.H.Carr in Indooroopilly in Queensland. In 1978 it was purchased from airline pilot, Col Haywood of Balwyn by the current owners with its existing registration plate IWX-747. Between 1978 and 1990 this DB6 was driven regularly from its home in Hawthorn to work at the Royal Melbourne Hospital. Its routine maintenance and servicing was carried out in the workshop at Hawthorn. Due to increased work and family commitments and increased town traffic and with some work required to the DB6 it was decided to take the car off the road. Restoration work on the car was completed by 2007, since when this highly authentic DB6 still in its original Silver Birch with black leather interior has been used only on special occasions and in good weather, travelling approximately 500 miles. Its period off the road has meant that this is a very low mileage and highly original and authentic example, just one of 46, of the rare and most desirable Aston Martin DB6 Mk2 Vantage.
