Now, a new device will keep your chatty colleagues quiet by masking their phone conversations with more enjoyable noises. Called Hushme, this gadget is a neckband-style wireless headphone that can mute phone conversations. This personal acoustic device is specifically designed to protect speech privacy in an open-environment by using passive voice suppression and active voice masking technology. The device slides around your neck, just as you would strap on a pair of wireless headphones. Then, when you’re ready to conceal your conversation, simply close the two sides together and you will be able to chat without others eavesdropping on your conversation. As well as muting your voice for others, the mask can change your voice by overlaying it with sounds of a squirrel, Darth Vader and more when you speak into the built-in microphone. The free companion app is a key component, as it connects the device to your phone and lets you choose from a range of sounds to overlay on top of your own voice from the ‘masking mode’, reports CNET. Users can choose from wind, rain, monkey and squirrel noises. As well as Darth Vader, R2D2 and Minion. Hushme has plans to open a crowfunding campaign later this year, which they are said to offer the device for for less than $200. Hushme is perfect for those who are always on the go and do not want to share their conversations with others around them.
