When she didn't hear back from him, she admitted, "I held much resentment for the fact that I'd made myself very vulnerable in this letter and told him all about my sobriety," adding that she was "quite cross with him for a few years”. It wasn't until 2020, when she moved to New York with her husband David Harbour, that she found the letter and realised he'd never read it. ”Elton, if you're listening - which you're probably not - I love you and I no longer harbour that resentment towards you.” The two stars have made their banter public. In 2008, they appeared on stage together for the GQ Men of the Year awards in London. When Elton suggested Lily might need to stop drinking, she replied, "F**k off, Elton.
