Headline: Special Tent That Aids Homeless is Available as Christmas Gift

Caption: A company is offering a special tent that aids homeless as a Christmas gift. It was announced Monday (11 Dec), weatherHYDE, the world’s first reversible and insulated tent, has been officially launched for sale for the holiday season. Originally designed to save the lives of homeless people living in extreme weather, it was developed by Prasoon Kumar, who quit his job as an architect to become the CEO and co-founder of the non-profit design and technology studio billionBricks. It followed an incident in 2013 where 9,000 families became homeless after communal riots in north India, with more than 30 children losing their lives as the temperature fell to freezing during the night. The life saving shelter protects a family of five from extreme weather. It is woman friendly and enables a single person, tool-less installation within 15 minutes and does not need any anchoring. A version of the tent is available which can be bought as a gift for the homeless, or in a version for recreational use, with 100% of the profits helping homeless families around the world. weatherHYDE received global coverage when its videos went viral with over 40 million views, and Ashton Kutcher calling it ‘innovation at its finest’. In January 2016, 12 homeless families in New Delhi, India, were chosen to take part in the pilot project. Khushi and her family was one of them. She had then been homeless for 23 years and weatherHYDE became her first home. Today, she has found employment and moved into a permanent home with her family. Following this, weatherHYDE raised over US$ 100,000 on Kickstarter with a massive support from all over the world. Its technology and details have been refined after field testing in 5 countries and on 3 continents, and it is now being deployed among the homeless in India with the winter approaching. The reversible skin allows to either trap body heat or reflect sun heat, depending on need. It is family-friendly, portable, low-cost, and requires no ground anchoring, making it suitable for all environments. A weatherHYDE spokesperson said Mnday (11 Dec): "weatherHYDE has finally been launched on the market and is ready to be shipped globally, in perfect time for the gifting season. On weatherhyde.org, anyone can buy or gift a weatherHYDE tent for recreational use, gift it to a homeless they know or gift it to a homeless in India through billionBricks. No matter which you choose, each tent helps the homeless."
