Headline: America Battles With Japan - With Robots

Caption: America has gone to war with Japan - in robot form. California-based MegaBots, Inc. and Suidobashi Heavy Industry have fought in a so-called Giant Robot Duel. After two years of preparation, the real steel battle is now scheduled to premiere on October 17th, 2017, at 7:00PM Pacific Time (3am UK time). MegaBots, Inc. recently completed Eagle Prime, a 12-ton, 16-foot-tall, 430-horsepower robot for the Giant Robot Duel. Suidobashi Heavy Industry has been upgrading its KURATAS robot into a 6.5-ton, 13-foot-tall, 87-horsepower combat robot over the past two years for the Giant Robot Duel. The robots will face off in a series of rounds in the Duel itself. A statement reads: "The Duel is not a live event. It was filmed to tape, and compiled into a single video. That video will be streamed to twitch.tv, and posted to MegaBots social media. The Duel consists of multiple rounds of fighting, which occurred over multiple days, in order to facilitate robot repairs and maintenance and resetting of the playing field. This meant that it could not be livestreamed like a traditional sport. "The Duel was held at a secret location in an abandoned steel mill in Japan, with no live audience other than the competing teams and the production staff. "MegaBots travelled to Japan, shipping Eagle Prime in sic pieces and assembling and testing the robot on-site. The venue was chosen in order to allow the robots to be as destructive as possible without endangering a live audience, and without risking the significant damage that might occur to a traditional venue. "MMA commentator Mike Goldberg and robotics expert Saura Naderi serve as Duel commentators, and Mari Takahashi of Smosh Games serves as a bilingual interviewer for MegaBots and Suidobashi." The fight will air on twitch.tv. Fans worldwide will be able to watch the Duel at twitch.tv/megabotsinc. Immediately after the streamed premiere, the Duel will be posted to MegaBots’ YouTube and Facebook channels. The livestream schedule will be as follows: • 7:00PM – Background videos about both teams and the Duel challenge • 7:30PM – The Giant Robot Duel • 8:00PM – Live question & answer session with MegaBots
