Headline: National Book Festival: Classic Childrens Books Uncovered

Caption: PICTURE SHOWS: “The Rocket Book” by Peter Newell - 1912. The upward progress of a rocket, lit in the basement by the janitor's son, causes some strange situations as it passes through 20 floors of apartments! .... Modern Summer Holidays for children may now often involve hours of screen time on tablets and phones, but these charming children's book covers hark back to simple days when escaping to a magical land would involve a trip to a library. The collection of evocative titles are being showcased by the U.S. Library of Congress in time for their 17th National Book Festival. With some titles dating from as far back as 1880, they include perennial favourites such as Adventures of Huckleberry Finn by Mark Twain (first published in the UK in December 1884) and The wonderful wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum (1900). The Library of Congress National Book Festival is described as for "book lovers of all ages" and begins on Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Walter E. Washington Convention Center in Washington, D.C..
