Headline: O.J. Simpson Museum Opens

Caption: A controversial O.J. Simpson museum is to open Friday (18 Aug). The pop-up O.J Simpson Museum at the Coagula Curatorial Gallery in L.A’s Chinatown will focus on the media craze surrounding the famous 1995 trial and the renewed interest following cult TV shows such as The People vs. O.J. Simpson. The curators say the exhibit was not created to glorify Simpson in any way. Spokesperson Hollie Thomson explains: "Love him or loathe him, the museum will showcase 300 artefacts related to the trial, interactive videos, sports memorabilia and original artwork, the museum focuses on the people’s viewpoint. Not intended to glorify Simpson in any way, the museum showcases the morbid fan culture of the day. As a reminder of the human-cost of the 1995 trial, the pop-up will also include a tribute to Nicole Brown and Ron Goldman." O.J. Simpson expert and creator of The O.J. Tour Adam Papagan is curating the temporary exhibit at Coagula Curatorial Gallery, located at 974 Chung King Road, in historic Chinatown, Downtown Los Angeles, dedicated to the alleged double-murderer and Heisman Trophy winner. The show will feature dozens of artifacts dating back to the time of the trial, a previously unseen collection of bootleg Simpson t-shirts, original artwork inspired by the case, and a 1994 Ford Bronco, which Papagan purchased with funds from a recent crowdfunding campaign. “The O.J. Trial has been a lifelong obsession of mine. Everyone knows the media version, but The O.J. Museum is the vernacular of the people”- Adam Papagan Coagula Curatorial gallerist Mat Gleason confesses, “I was total O.J. trail junkie back in the day and hosting this show is a lifelong dream come true.” An early issue of Gleason’s published magazine Coagula Art Journal featured a cover story on the 1995 O.J. Simpson trial’s effect on artist and the art world.
