Headline: Little Owl Winks At Photographer

Caption: This Little Owl appears to be WINKING at wildlife photographer Pete Walkden. He captured his new feathered friend at a farm in Worcestershire. Pete explains: " The farmer granted me permission to photograph them and I have spent months building up my trust with the birds. The "winking" little owl is the sole survivor of this year's brood, and was for a while named "Fluffy McFluff-Face" on social media by me, on account of its appearance. On this occasion I had been hoping to get some backlit shots of the owls, as the sun sank down behind them. The young owl perched up, and as I took a number of shots, it decided to blink one eye. They often blink, though I was pleased to time a shot appearing to show the owl winking. The young owl remained at the farm until early October when it was presumably chased away by the adult, as it needed to set up its own territory elsewhere. While the young owl was never a pet to me, I miss seeing it and hope it has found a new home."
